Among them, the Micro LED technology research and development project of Xiamen Xinying Display Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Xinying Display") officially started on that day. According to the data, Xinying Display was established on December 8, 2020. It is a joint venture between Quanzhou Sanan Semiconductor Technology Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sanan Optoelectronics, and TCL Huaxing Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd. It is committed to the research and development of new semiconductor display technology and the industrialization of Micro LED display projects.

On March 1, Zhaochi Co., Ltd. announced that the company's controlling shareholder Nanchang Zhaotou and its concerted person Gu Wei signed a "Share Transfer Framework Agreement" with Shenzhen Capital Operation Group Co., Ltd. and its wholly-owned subsidiary Shenzhen Yixin Investment Co., Ltd. According to the agreement, Nanchang Zhaotou and its concerted parties plan to transfer 19.73% of the shares to Shenzhen Capital Group and its subsidiaries for a total transfer price of 4.368 billion yuan. After the transfer is completed, the company's controlling shareholder and actual controller will be changed to Shenzhen Capital Group, and Mr. Gu Wei will continue to serve as chairman.

On October 10, Nationstar Optoelectronics issued an indicative announcement regarding the planning of a major asset restructuring. According to the announcement, Nationstar Optoelectronics plans to purchase 60% equity of Yancheng Dongshan Precision Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Yancheng Dongshan"), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Suzhou Dongshan Precision Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Dongshan Precision"), in cash. On November 6, BOE announced that it plans to use self-raised funds of no more than 2.1 billion yuan to subscribe for A shares issued by Huacan Optoelectronics to specific targets. After the subscription is completed, it will become the company's largest shareholder with a shareholding ratio of 23.08%.

It is understood that BOE said that on the one hand, this transaction can quickly complete the layout of key aspects of LED chips, complement existing businesses to form a complete business system, and enhance business competitiveness from all aspects of technology, products, production capacity, markets, talents, etc.; on the other hand, it can quickly obtain a good platform to boost business development and provide a reliable organizational mechanism guarantee for building business competitive advantages.

Since 2022, the LED display market has attracted cross-border layouts from different industries, and industry giants have also expanded production and penetrated. Vertical integration of upstream, midstream and downstream is becoming the development trend of the LED display industry and will even change the traditional display industry structure in the future. As midstream packaging companies, they may face the advantages of upstream and downstream giants that are several times their size, or they may face the squeeze of cross-border capital. MIP packaging technology achieves breakthrough

In order to better develop Micro LED, Nationstar Optoelectronics announced on July 6 that it has launched a new packaging device solution. According to reports, the new MIP packaging device solution is based on the idea of ​​​​fan-out packaging technology. Through a self-developed mass transfer method, a blackened substrate and a high-light extraction packaging route are used to construct a new MIP device, which greatly improves the photoelectric performance of the device. By amplifying the pin electrode, it matches the current machine equipment. It has the advantages of low cost, high brightness, low power consumption, strong compatibility, and mixable BIN to improve display consistency.

It can complete test sorting, easy detection and repair, and it is easier to apply Micro LED to the end market.

What is MIP?

MIP is a new packaging architecture based on Micro LED. The encapsulated MIP can be re-packaged with MCOB and can be produced using existing equipment, saving investment on the equipment side of the production line.

The process flow of MIP is to transfer the Micro LED chip to the carrier board through mass transfer technology, encapsulate it, cut it into single or multiple-in-one small chips, then split and mix the light of the small chips, and then perform the patching process and screen surface coating to complete the production of the display screen.


According to research reports from relevant institutions, Mini will be within P1.0 of H1 in 2022 COB packaging accounts for 30.8% of the LED market, which also shows that IMD/MIP packaging technology products have occupied a large market share in the field of fine pitch. At present, many upstream packaging manufacturers and LED display manufacturers have laid out MIP packaging technology routes, such as Nationstar, Leyard, Jingtai, Zhongqi Optoelectronics, Xinying Optoelectronics, etc. Among them, Leyard's simultaneous global release of the Micro LED black diamond series on June 30, 2022 attracted attention. Its point pitch is P0.9-P1.8, successfully achieving coverage of 80% of small-pitch products.


Micro LED COG technology can be applied to a lower pitch, but it is difficult to sort and test. In comparison, MIP technology has more advantages and is the best bridge between chips and backplanes. Sanan MiP 0404 products are currently in mass production, and 0202 has related products. Therefore, whether companies choose COB or IMD/MIP packaging technology, these will promote the iterative upgrade of small-pitch LEDs to Mini/Micro LEDs.

Many screen companies have obtained DCI certification, and the era of LED movie screens is coming!

In January 2022, Dongguan Altai Display Technology Co., Ltd.’s nationally produced 4K LED movie screen passed Hollywood DCI certification! The LED cinema screen that was certified this time was independently developed and produced by AET Altai, and the image processing system was jointly developed and produced by AET Altai and domestic system and player companies, achieving national production! AET has thus become the first Chinese company in China to realize the national production of LED cinema screens and image processing and playback systems, and to pass Hollywood DCI certification!

In February, Shanghai Muge announced that the GS01 LED cinema screen it developed passed the test of the US DCI testing agency and officially obtained the Hollywood DCI certification.

In March, AET Altai's 2K 10m cinema screen once again received Hollywood DCI certification, making AET the first domestic LED display company to have both 2K and 4K 10m cinema screens pass Hollywood DCI certification.
